YOUR SAFETY COMES FIRST

Before we carry out a colour service, we need to make sure your skin test* is up to date.
At 25 Hair, you have two ways to complete your colour safety testing: you can either use the Colourstart Passport and home skin test, or visit the salon for an Allergy Alert Test (AAT).
*If you’re ever unsure which option applies to you, please contact the salon and we’ll be happy to guide you.
COLOUR SAFETY AT 25HAIR
Pop into the salon
OPTION 1
Prefer us to take care of it for you? You can visit the salon for an Allergy Alert Test (AAT).
We’ll mix a small amount of your colour and apply it as required for your test. The salon visit itself only takes around 5-10 minutes.
If you choose the in-salon AAT option, your test and screening questions must be kept up to date. Under our current salon policy, this means returning for an AAT every 6 months.
The in-salon skin test is free of charge.
Please note: If you change your colour service or we change the colour brand being used, you may need to be skin tested again before your appointment.
Complete your test at home
OPTION 2
Prefer to do it yourself? You can order a Colourstart skin test to complete at home and manage your results through your Colourstart Passport.
Your Colourstart Passport is free to create and allows you to complete the required screening questions and record your test result online.

COLOURSTART SKIN TEST
How the at-home test works?
1. CREATE YOUR PASSPORT
Create your free Colourstart Passport and complete the required screening questionnaire on www.colourstart.com
2. ORDER YOUR SKIN TEST
Purchase your Colourstart skin test and follow the instructions provided with the test carefully.
3. COMPLETE THE TEST
Apply the test as instructed.
The existing Colourstart process on the site requires the patch to remain in place for 48 hours. After removing it, wait the required 30 minutes before recording your result.
4. RECORD YOUR RESULT
Log back into your Colourstart Passport and record the result of your test.
Your Passport will then show the appropriate result and indicate whether you can proceed with colour or whether further action is required.
Understanding your result
GREEN TICK
A green result means we can proceed with your colour service.
The existing Colourstart policy used by 25 Hair states that a green result is valid for 120 days. For subsequent appointments within this period, you will still need to complete the Colourstart screening questions before your colour service.
ORANGE TICK
An orange result means there is something that needs to be looked into before we proceed.
Please contact the salon. We may need to ask further screening questions or carry out an additional in-salon test before your colour appointment.
RED TICK
A red result means we cannot proceed using the Colourstart result.
Please contact the salon before booking or attending a colour appointment so we can advise you on the appropriate next step.
WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO USE COLOURSTART?
That’s absolutely fine. You can choose not to use the Colourstart Passport and instead follow our in-salon Allergy Alert Test (AAT) policy.
Simply visit the salon for your skin test and screening questions. Your visit takes around 5-10 minutes, and the test is free of charge.
Under our current salon policy, an in-salon AAT must be kept up to date and repeated every 6 months.
If your colour changes or we change the brand of colour being used, you may also need to complete another skin test.
NOT SURE WHAT YOU NEED?
Colour safety can feel a little confusing, so you don’t need to work it all out yourself.
If you’re unsure whether your test is still valid, whether you need a new test before changing colour, or which testing option is right for you, simply give us a call and the team will be happy to help.
